Years rooted in Muttontown

Brian Fagen, Esq. is a Licensed Associate Real Estate Broker at Compass and a currently registered New York attorney. He grew up on, and now raises his family on, Long Island — and he has spent his entire professional life inside the systems that make a transaction succeed or unravel: the courtroom, the boardroom, and the building department.

Brian earned his B.A. from Indiana University and his J.D. from St. John's University School of Law before being admitted to the New York State Bar in 2003. He began his career as an Assistant District Attorney in the Kings County (Brooklyn) District Attorney's Office, then served as Executive Vice President of Prestige Toy Corp, leading corporate operations and high-stakes negotiations. Today he carries that same discipline into every contract, inspection, and closing.

He joined Compass after a tenure at Douglas Elliman's Syosset office, and his transactions stretch from $10M lofts in TriBeCa and Upper East Side co-ops to Gold Coast estates in Mill Neck, Cold Spring Harbor, Muttontown, and Laurel Hollow, plus oceanfront homes on Dune Road in Westhampton. Long Island Business News has named him in more than a dozen "Priciest Sales" features across Glen Cove, Huntington Bay, Oyster Bay Cove, Syosset, Cold Spring Harbor, and Brookville.

The builder's eye

He reads a house the way most agents read a listing sheet.

Construction fluency isn't a tagline for Brian — it's how he walks a property. As Village Trustee in Muttontown he campaigned on overhauling a broken permit and certificate-of-occupancy process, and he sits across the table from building departments, surveyors, architects, and contractors on a regular basis.

That means when you're considering a home, he can flag the open permit, the unpermitted addition, the failing oil tank, the wetlands setback, the roof-line that won't survive a renovation budget — before you're emotionally committed. And when you're selling, he knows exactly which fixes move price and which ones just spend money.

First-Time Buyer

East Northport, NY

"Brian was amazing. So helpful in the process and was just as eager as myself and my fiancée. We would be texting him late into the night about homes and then going to see homes at night. It took a while but we found something we all fell in love with. Love Brian a lot and he has become a friend as well."
